Both the error of commission and the error of omission are suitable for describing a situation where the expected and measured buffers overlap. The definition of these two indicators is consistent with the error indicators used for assessing classified images in remote sensing. The discrepant area indicator has been defined by taking into consideration the possibility that the expected and measured buffers might not overlap with each other.
